At Design for Planet Impact, we believe that thoughtful design and engineering can make meaningful change in the world. Our vision is to bridge the gap between innovation and social impact by developing practical, low-cost solutions for communities with limited access to essential resources.

Many humanitarian design projects are often left unexplored because they are not seen as financially profitable. Our organization exists to challenge that — to show that innovation can and should serve communities that traditional markets overlook.

Founded just before the summer of 2025, Design for Planet Impact is a student-led organization at Georgia Tech made up of a small, dedicated team of students passionate about using design as a force for good. Although we are in the early stages of growth, we are driven by a shared goal: to apply our skills toward projects that create real and lasting impact.

Our work begins with research and collaboration. We engage directly with local partners—including hospitals, shelters, and community organizations—as well as faculty and experts at Georgia Tech to identify pressing challenges faced by underserved populations. This community-centered approach allows us to understand needs firsthand and design solutions that are both effective and accessible.

After identifying a problem, our team develops product ideas that are low-cost, sustainable, and tailored to the community’s needs. These ideas are then passed on to student engineers at Georgia Tech, who bring them to life through prototyping and iterative testing.
